Cut groove dimensions and pipe-end preparation
Identify the pipe outside diameter, gasket seating surface, groove width, groove diameter and minimum wall thickness for cut grooving.
Dimensions to verify
Verify pipe outside diameter (maximum and minimum tolerance), gasket seating surface L, groove width W, groove diameter GD and minimum wall thickness t.
Cut grooving requires a greater minimum wall thickness than roll grooving (for example 1": roll 1.65 mm, cut 3.4 mm). Consult AJS before cut grooving thinner pipe.
The groove must be of uniform depth around the full circumference within the GD tolerance, and the seating surface from the pipe end to the groove must be free of marks, scale and debris.
Information for ordering
Provide the pipe material, outside-diameter standard (KS or ASME), wall thickness and the coupling model to be used.
Contact AJS for sizes or wall thicknesses not listed.
